I agree with eb3_nepa
The fact is that the biggest immediate issue facing the majority of people is Not a green card, it is that they cannot even file for it. Wasn't retrogression the whole reason why people joined IV? GC processing was always slow, and that was a big problem. But it only got to be a critical problem when people realized they could not change jobs and their spouses could not work due to the retrogression.
Let us focus on the low hanging fruits first.

a) Filing for stage 3 regardless of PD
b) Relief for people in the LC mess
c) Fingerprinting one person just Once (i mean fingerprints dont change do they?)
... does it make sense to go for a Comprehensive Permanent solution or does it make sense to ask for smaller tid-bits and treat the other costs we incur as "costs of doing business"? ... Let us seriously think about this solution.

hope that means they are willing to talk about giving EAD. If we get EAD all the lawsuits will be withdrawn. The law does not say AOS applications should not be accepted when there are no visa numbers available, the law only says AOS cannot be approved when visa numbers are not available. USCIS internal regulations says they will not accept AOS applications when priority date is not current. by now its quite apparent that USCIS has broken a lot of there own internal regulations just to make sure the visa numbers are used up before july 2 2007. Then can easily accomodate the EAD for july filers. It all depends upon the pressure exerted on USCIS and DOS

everybody maximize their own utility.
How about deciding the position in the queue based on the utility bill. If you consume more energy/utilities/sewage, you are creating jobs for the guys at the local water treatment plant, sub-station or power generating station, who then go to local eating joint to create more jobs/business, who buy stuff from farmers, who ........

I totally agree. I am almost fed up with this process for good. Once 180 days are over, I am switching jobs to advance my career. I have made a decision to return to India or go to Canada in case GC does not work out. Came here as a student in '97, PD EB2 India March/2005 and I am almost at the point of 'to hell with this charade'.

Hi everyone,
I am flattered and extremely grateful to all of you for thinking about this. However, Immigration Voice has made it a policy to use the funds available for advocacy and in order to do that we have chosen not to reimburse expenses for anyone. We will in future, change this policy and reimburse expenses for travel and stationary if it is affordable to do so without running short on funds for advocacy. There are a lot of people who have spend money from their pocket on this effort. Recently, Gopal, Tamsen, Anand and many other had spent money to organize rally and make the banners for San Jose rally, Jay have traveled to DC multiple times on his expense, Himanshu, Vineet, Pratik, Ashish, Nagaraj, Naren, Alok and other members of the core team have all spent resources from their pocket. And there are a lot of good non-core group members who have kept the faith and have spent from their pocket and writing all their names will fill up many pages of this thread.
If I am unable to get reimbursed then I would not regret at all because I truly believe that every penny was worth the effort and I am lucky that I could do this for myself and this community. This community is not about one person, it’s about all of us and it’s about this broken system. I am nobody as an individual but we are collective a very big community. We need to stand up for ourselves so that few lawmakers will not take pride in beating us down by their false rhetoric on the Senate floor. As you have witnessed lately, these lawmakers think that beating us down is like a low hanging fruit and every time they need to improve their ratings, they could simply do some empty rhetoric. And when we all stand-up for ourselves, together, it will be time for this bigotry to end.
Please do not collect or send funds with the intention of reimbursement for me or any particular core group. Please continue contributing to our organization in whatever capacity you can. Please become more active in the state chapters. In the beginning the response will be slow and sometimes discouraging. But if you are persistent, you will be able to motivate others in your area and raise the level of participation of other members. Please stand up for yourself and not expect lawyers or employers to do “something” for you. For too long a lot of people have taken advantage of this community. Some lawmakers have even taken pride in beating us down, knowing well that we do contribute towards the progress and pay the taxes and do our due share in the society. We all need to realize that it doesn’t end with whatever we have been doing at our jobs, because if we want our issues to be addressed we have to organize and act as community. And there is nothing wrong with organizing a community. We all have witnessed our strength when we all collectively acted as a community responding to the recent visa bulletin fiasco. We won because of the participation of everybody who sent flowers, participated in the rally and participated and helped behind the scenes in these activities.
So please keep this in mind. For the core group, your involvement is as important as your contribution. Participating in phone campaign, fax campaign, flower campaign, street protests, video campaign -- all this is a billion times more important for our success. Contributions are also welcome but your presence on the street and your face on the videos is of paramount importance for coming months. Please follow every single action item both on this site and the ones you get in the newsletters. In order to get newsletter, keep the email address and contact information in your profile (of IV account) up to date.
My wife and I received our green cards in June. But all it doesn’t end with a green card. We will all continue to have same set of problems. If a person isn't contributing money, isn't participating in state chapters, isn't going to any rally and his/her sole contribution is 'brilliant ideas' that get posted on the forums... only use he/she can be put to is inter-breeding donkeys and horses, like you said!
However, unfortunately, IV is not a farm.
A rich man had a bunch of horses and donkeys. He used some to carry the load and some he tried to breed for participating in races. He was trying something but not very effeciently.

I140 or H1-B is another story, but, I485 is solely your application. You are entitled to talk to the attorney who sent your application (and put his/her name as a contact to USCIS) BY LAW. For I485 he/she is representing you, thus have to reply to your inquiries. It might even be ILLEGAL for the attorney to give info about your I485 to your employer.
How you can make your employer convinced about this? You might show evidence. Your initial aggrement with the attorney will help, too.
Too much of patience needed for this. My lawyer sent the papers on july 2nd. Still no word about the Receipt notice. I can see an LUD on July 28th on my approved I140. my 140 starts with SRC.... Anyone similar to my case.
Sub. Labor - Priority date aug 5th 2004.

Section 202 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual employment-based preference limits. This means a country with large population like India and a tiny country like Lichtenstein get same number of visa numbers. This system is designed to systematically discriminate people from India and China by preventing them from attaining employment visas. More research needs to be done whether this constitutes a violation of US Equal Employment Opportunity Law. We need to find out whether this constitutes discrimination by national origin. Did you send out the latest letters...I am getting a positive feed back ..that approximately at least 500 letters have gone out..we started to make noise.. and we will see the results eventually...More action items will follow in comming weeks..Dont forget the high five though campaign though ;)

Mine is a labor substitution case. Labor PD: 02/2007. I-140 filed on 06/29/2007 in NSC and received the case number and also notice of action (I-797). If it is not a labor substitution case, then it would have been filed in TSC.
I live in Texas and my attorney filed I-1485 in TSC on 08/02/2007.
Whether my I-140 (based on labor substitution) will be transferred to TSC, from NSC? Or my I-485 will be transferred from TSC to NSC? How this transfer of cases from one center to another happening?

i was not able to attend the IV rally..emergency reasons..but still its fair for me to suffer..
its highly unlikely we can see a reform. I agree with logiclife's post..we deserve what we are getting into..
of the 800K applications u saw applying for AOS..even if 10K had come to DC rally it'd made a huge diff..
we all do line up for GCs like herds but dont have the guts to attend..
i know of so many ppl who say "all this rally is ridiculous".. and i dont pity them those who wait for 10 years..becoz u deserve to suffer and will continually suffer..

Also - emailed both personal contacts at my state senators offices with whom I (and a group of other state members) visited over the last month and a half to re-iterate general IV goals and to state strong opposition to S1348.
I have received personal responses back from both Feinstein and Boxer at this point.

I feel much better. These are trying times for sure.
Loads of work at the office, moving from one city to another and above all...this frustrating wait --- Its 2 much 2 handle. But I'm with u guyz...I think I shud just STFU N wait.
For all those waiting for approval, its does help to find out if a visa number has been requested for your application. My understanding is that all the applications which are ready for adjudication are moved to a separate area and visa number is requested for those.Infact if you can find out (I think the guys at Infopass only have access to that information. Not sure if the level 2 service does) it helps. If a visa number has been assigned or requested for your application it will get approved.
I am not sure if assigned to an officer or with an officer status has any material value when it comes to approval unless a visa number has been requested.
