Sorry if I am posting on wrong thread. I am in the process of sending my documents for EAD renewal and had few questions
Do we need to include a cover letter ?
Also I am sending the following documents.
1) copy I-485 receipt notice
2) copy of EAD (front and back)
3) two color photos
4) Filing fee check $340
5) Mailer stub received from previous EAD.
Am I missing anything else?

Problem was ours (EB2 & EB3) and we fought together until EB2&EB3 dates were retrogressed.Now the problem is only for EB3s so EB3s only have to come forward and work for ourselves. Thank you Sir...
No, you are twisting what I said. My point is, if you are not willing to help yourself, why do you expect people who are going to be current in a year or so to chip in? You can start helping yourself by becoming a regular donor to IV. That's $25 a month. Imagine 11,000 odd EB people becoming regular donors. Maybe, IV can then run a regular ad in major news network, explaining our plight.
What I am saying is we(EB2&3) will fight together and you are saying that It's your problem and you(EB3) have to work for yourself.So do we have to start a new community called eb3immigrationvoice?

I tried doing that. Convinced the employer to file a new labor for a new position, advertized again, filed a new labor under PERM, applied for a new I-140 and waited for a year for approval ... now the I-140 has been denied for A2P and is under appeal; I must confess that I have lost hope that it'll get re-opened and approved.
So all my efforts for getting a EB2 140 have failed.....what do you recommend, I start this entire process again. Even if I'm willing to bear the cost, the employer will not file yet another labor.
EB3 wait is my only way out now......

Good point, gene. Folks think that switching to EB-2 is easy enough...not really...esp. with no PP for 140...It can take years to convert in the present situation...and a lot of companies are not interested to file second labor or 140...

Roger and BECsufferer, I hear your arguments and you two have a valid point of view. We need to do something at the least. Not doing anything is not an option.
However, please understand, we are asking for "fair" and "equitable" treatment for those who are already inside the country and devoted sufficient time of their life here. To me this means "justice." If you are constantly denied justice then there is constitution to protect the rights.
We are not asking for their "help" or "favor". Although immigration is a privilege, there is a law that governs it and it seems it is possible that EB Indians are targeted by this administration. Infact in good times of this country we have done it a lot of favor instead of our home country. Now is the time to ask for "rights" for our contribution.
My question is, if Americans are distressed and EB India are cause of it, why did they let us in in the first place? So is it something that immigration is privilege when they need it and then chuck us out when they dont? Are you upto accepting that we are commodities to be used and thrown when they like?

I got "the letter" too...
It is just a letter recognizing that there was a SR made etc...
There really is no substance to it. You should get your letter before 45 days of creating the SR. I got mine on the 45th day.
Once again, the letter says nothing. What should happen is that your FP appointment should be made during the 45 days after you create a SR. If it is not made, you get "the letter." After the letter, I was told to wait 60 days from when I received the letter to get FP appointment and if I didn't get them within those days to call back.
Last week I called USCIS regarding FP and Customer Representative told me that they have sent me a letter on 21st of Oct regarding SR I opened in the month of OCT (I haven't received that letter yet. Do not know where they sent it). I asked her about the content of the letter but she said she doesn't have that information and I have to wait till 19th Dec to open new SR. She suggested visiting local USCIS through Infopass. I have taken infopass appointment for this coming Friday. I will update you on Friday about the appointment.

Where we can have people portraying roles of USCIS Director, Secrtary of State, Immigrants calling franctically to India to get their documents, parents running around to get doucments, the start of rumor, the employees of uscis working on sunday to adjudicate the cases, then the flip flop of DOS. etc. Then we can put this on youtube and will attract publicity.

First and foremost we have to realize that we are fee paying customers to USCIS. We have a right to demand better customer service. The reports and other kind of data they are releasing currently is an insult to the high skilled immigrant community. It is time we call out that the king (USCIS) has no clothes. They have been feeding us garbage disguised as reports and offical data. Anybody with a high school degree would say that the reports and data provided have zero value since they are not complete.
How do we get the right kind of information from USCIS?
Here are the steps
a) Send letters to the Dept chief asking for the data we need and wait for 3-4 weeks for a response. ( Data we should ask for, apps pending with PD's and EB category for every month starting from 1998)
b) Send another letter to the President and copy USCIS chief on that. Wait for another 3-4 weeks
c) If we do not get any satisfactory information after the previous 2 steps and 2 months of waiting, we should do a relay protest in DC and in front of all the USCIS centers until they provide us with the exact data.
By doing this we woould have put enough spotlight on USCIS and also our problmes would have got enough coverage in the media. From here we can try and work with the various agencies to push for our other agendas. Now we will have a clearer picture of what the situation is and ask for the right things. At the same time the agencies will have the better information with them to look in to our issues.
Comments are welcome.
CIS is answerable to nobody. While they will be more responsive to complaints and suggestions at a broad level, individual case processing is something that can't be controlled.
It is a problem of ridiculous amount of power in the hands of people who can't handle it - the IOs. They can do anything. It is not hard for them to justify saying the older cases are complex, whereas in reality, it might a case of plain laziness to go fetch the case files.
So, if they are processing at random, there is nothing we can do except zip up, pray and wait for luck to turn our way.

Folks who opened an SR and had NSC-CSC-NSC transfers, what is the format of the ref # the Cust Service Rep gave you??
I got a # of the format T1NXXXXXXXXXXXCSC format.
I also got this format. but response, came from NSC after 30 days of filing SR.
I had called in the middle to confirm whether SR went to CSC. Rep said requests will get to apprpriate service center.
the other problem is for people like us, the status says " case traansferred and pending at uscis office". I find that reps find it hard to figure out where it is pending. because of wac number, they sometimes conclude it is CSC.
the status on phone says "pending at lincoln".
