Congrats!
Usually there will be another message "Notice welcoming permanrent resident sent" . Then, after a few days there will be "Approval notice sent" , the physical approval notice goes to your attorney. You should receive the physical card within 7-10 days.

File 485 on your own Man - They are even contemplating even in issuing the Employer letter.
They are telling me that let the PD retrogress again - we will go by H1B :)
My situation is not any better. I am working for a GA based company since 2001 got stuck in the backlog center with Priority Date Oct 2003 (labor apporved in Nov 2006 I-140 applied in May). After calling the company HR for 30-40 times in last one week I was able to talk to HR guy, he said the ceo will allow only those who have approved I-140 to apply for I-485. He also said then once priority date retogressed again I will be able to get 3 years H1B ext. that will be good for me.:mad: I think these desi blood sucking compnies will be obsolete in couple of years. If USCIS make the rules better.
I was thinking of disclosing my employers name but then I will never be able to file I-485

You might need additional documentation only in cases of RFE. In most cases there are no RFEs. I know a friend of mine was job less for a year and changed 2 jobs under AC21(with different salary ranges ) after applying 485. Never informed USCIS (I guess it is not mandatory). He got his GC recently. He probably would have faced difficulty if there were any RFEs.
One should be okay as long as the following are met :

3) New job is substantially similar.
Again it was not clearly defined what is substantially similar and I don't think there is any hard and fast rule about the salary changes. That leaves a lot to the discretion of the adjudicating officer. That is why it is important that (s)he trust the original intent of the beneficiary to join the employer and employers intent to recruit the beneficiary.
There must be a memo with some clarifications in this regard.

As mentioned in my earlier post, address on my husband's I-485 was changed by USCIS system wrongly to attorney's address. We were wondering whether the documents went to old address or attorney and thank god our attorney has received it today and we will get it tomorrow. As for me and my son, still waiting...

The culprit being subjected to Gandhigiri (Gandhi-ism: A strategy to win unjust,corrupt mind by highly unexpected pleasant deeds.)has some shame and self respect.If the target is a moron, he would slap you to death, no matter how many chances you give him.

No onde denies that we cannot vote. But we have the basic rights, like being treated "equally and fairly". For example, if some employer violates labor law and did not pay you for your work, I am sure you can sue, even though you are not a citizen. There are some basic rights that everyone has, esp. if you hold good fainth and are damaged. Statement that you do not have any rights as you are not a citizen is just wrong. I am wondering how this will impact people's (esp. people from other countries) perception about this. :confused:

hope that means they are willing to talk about giving EAD. If we get EAD all the lawsuits will be withdrawn. The law does not say AOS applications should not be accepted when there are no visa numbers available, the law only says AOS cannot be approved when visa numbers are not available. USCIS internal regulations says they will not accept AOS applications when priority date is not current. by now its quite apparent that USCIS has broken a lot of there own internal regulations just to make sure the visa numbers are used up before july 2 2007. Then can easily accomodate the EAD for july filers. It all depends upon the pressure exerted on USCIS and DOS

My guess is that this is precisely why USCIS didn't want the all current situation. They don't want to be stuck with 700K applications which have no hope of getting a greencard for years upon years, while they churn out EADs and APs for all those years.
Of course, one fix would be to increase the EAD time period to 3 yrs. Something they have been unwilling to do.

Removal of country limits temporarily and permanently, will both require the support of the majority of both houses of the congress. It will require as much effort to to remove country limits temporarily as it will require to remove country limits permanently.
Some folks here just wants to remove country limits till the time they get their agree card i.e. for the span of 2 years. If removal of country limits is good for EB community and America, then why only remove it for 2 years ONLY.
Such a campaign is likely to divide this community. PLEASE DO NOT divide the community by supporting this mis-directed agenda.

1) Lift the Country Cap for Temporary period of time, may be just for 2 years.
2) Limit the Maximum waiting time, say if one applicant is waiting for 5 years than country cap should be exempted and he should be given a preference over a person who�s PD is just 1 year old.
He specifically told me 'your second point is very good, I'll certainly share these with the Senator'...

when american's from such third rate schools are not getting jobs, do you seriously think foreigners with their funny accents and relatively poor English communication skills (I'm Indian and can tell you its still a second language to me) can get jobs??
The market has a way of regulating itself. As someone mentioned above, there were a a lot of H1 space available from 2001-03. But it never got filled because there were simply not enough jobs. Lets not try to set up govenment intervention here....let the free market decide....that is what made this country great.
btw, NumbersuSA, FAIR and other restrictionist organizations have zero credibility because they oppose even legal immigration.

I agree to the point that: we pay for unemployment , SS tax etc when we ourselves are not eligible for any of that if we continue on H1, in fact we are supposed to exit this country when we loose job!!!

when europeans came here abt 500 years back, natives did not welcome them nor liked them. Now legal immigrants are coming , and you know how they are treated!!
so I guess system is behaving like normal. Its upto us to fight the system...
by demanding GC , we(for us and our generations) are asking for right to apply for citizenship, ultimately a right on the resource of this country(all resources including natural resource). So there has got to be fight/effort to get it. It will not come just doing what we do for living.
