I would like to ask the same question but a bit more specific.
For someone who is an MBA (Finance) with 7-8 yrs of Financial and HR benefits experience who wants to move to IT or IT related field what would you advice would be the best field to move to or best certification to take ?

Well... thanks for your reply but maybe you are one of the lucky ones who never been scr... up by the lawyers in the past. Well.. I have and others as well. Just becuase the lawyer says "it can be done" (read: pay now and we will see what USCIS will say later) I am not necessarily going to believe in that ...
CIRcus is in the early stages of the show so hopefully it will pick up the steam soon I will not need to go through the EB2/EB3 pains ....

Her H4 is not valid. She did travel to India without an approved AP.

I am the same boat. My wife got her card wheras I got a response to the SR we raised that my card was sent the same day as my 485 approval notice and it might been lost in mail. I was asked to file I-90. I called customer service several times and talked to 2nd level IO and all suggested to file I-90. I took infopass but gave a shot again by talking to 2nd level IO who went over my case and said that my card was never created so she raised a SR.
My previous SR was raised by officer at the local uscis office who mentioned non delivery of PR cards which i don't think is the correct request. Now I have to pray and hope they create the card or have to file I-90
I had same experience. Various customer service rep told me that my card was indeed sent. I think they go by email notications or by status changes to our I-485 application. It goes through "Card Production Ordered" and "Post decision activity" even when there is problem with card production. Its only when they look in some other system, they find that there was a problem with card production.

If you don't know the answer, please don't reply. Just because this person asked about getting GC through his/ her baby, it does not mean the person is here illegally or if even this person is in the US. I friend of mine died in an accident in Mumbai and he is survived by his wife and two kids (the kids were born here in the US). His wife asked me the same question and after asking my lawyer, I had to tell her that there is no way she can apply for GC through her children unless her children turn 21.

The processing date listed is the received date of the oldest case that they have not adjudicated or pre-adjudicated yet (maybe due to some problem). It does not mean that cases filed after April 2007 are or will not be adjudicated.

why is every one trying to rush in the application for I-485 by july 1st. The dates are goin to be current from July 1st Thro July 31st.

What are you saying? Health Services dismal? I thought it was better than US in many aspects. The cost is cheap for treatment (unless you have some uncommon disease. Since the system is churning up so many doctors, there is a lot of competition. Even in small villages you will find many doctors competing for patients. Maybe that is not true for everywhere, but that is what I have seen in my home state Haryana.
Also the education system may not be perfect, but kids don't have to go to private schools, because public schools have run out of capacity. There are problems like not all-around development, and not all kids doing great in studies. But that is true even in US, unless you are sending your kids to a fine private school (which by the way you can do in India, if you have money). JMHO

For the first time, the US moved to the 6th Spot in the world rankings by the world economic forum (Europe based Institution). The main reason was because of the huge current account deficit and negative savings (mainly federal deficit) which is a threat to the US competitiveness. China moved down due to corruption etc. India moved up but any further movement will depend on structural reforms, especially controlling the huge public service and red-tape and a creaking infrastructure - power, roads, ports, water supply - all of which are run by the government. The health services in large parts of India is dismal and so is the public education system (K-12). With the left firmly controlling the ruling party, deregulation is slow and insipid, and it is the private sector which is basically contributing to the GDP and Competitiveness. i-140/485/131/765 concurrently filed with tsc in Aug 2007. recd receipt notices, ead and ap without any problems in oct and nov 2007, but no fingerprint notices. called uscis couple of times (didn't open any sr's though), got standard response- application is under review, you'll be sent notices as part of the review process, don't ask when.
asked lawyer why no biometrics and he said that a lot of their clients have not recd theirs, but they were starting to see some come through (this was back in feb 2008). i also asked lawyer if it was advisable to contact local congressman/ senator for help and he advised against it, apparently if your file is with an io and your congressman/ senator sends a query, uscis has a limited amount of time to respond and the file is typically pulled from the io (don't know if i believe this, but that was the line i was fed).
finally got fed up and contacted local congressman's office; no help there either, got canned response from tsc- we recd x million applications last july and august and are trying to work through them.
then last month, i asked my senator's office to find out what was going on. this time i got a reponse back from tsc saying that they would send out notices shortly, if they hadn't done so. lo and behold, a week after receiving the tsc response from my senator's office, both my spouse and i recd fingerprint notices, which we completed yesterday.
